COERR Mae Sot Organized Income Generating Program for Unemployed Youth

There was a number of children and youth in Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, Tak Province’s Tha Song Yang District who finished Primary School Level but could not further their higher education as their parents were too poor to afford their education. They wished to earn a living to ease the family’s financial burden but they had no skills.

Realizing the importance of quality of life development of uneducated youth in order to support themselves and their families, COERR Mae Sot then organized short-term training on homemade cake making that the trainees could build on the experience to further a career and turn the crisis into an opportunity.

The Homemade Cake Making Class was conducted on August 11 and 18, 2022, in which 8 females attended. The recipes had been adjusted to meet the food environment, i.e., low-cost, easy to make and delicious, by using only steamer pot instead of oven. The Homemade Cake Making class attracted the interest of the trainees that they paid attention to the two-day training course and gained expertise.

It is hopeful that the trainees should be able to make this homemade recipe to earn for their living in the future.
